Older people in the Jedburgh and Kelso areas are being encouraged to get involved in two new activities being developed by the Scottish Borders Council Community Capacity Building Team.
A soup and sandwich lunch is going to be available in the Carter’s Rest function suite in Jedburgh from noon-2pm on the third Wednesday of every month, starting on 23rd January. The next two dates will be 20th February and 20th March and every four weeks after that. There is a £6.50 charge per person which includes lunch and a soft drink, tea or coffee.
New age kurling taster sessions will take place in the Abbey Row Community Centre in Kelso on 6th February, 20th February and 6th March from 12.45-2.45pm. The cost of £2 includes refreshments of tea, coffee and biscuits.
These events build on the gentle exercise class that is held in the Kelso Rugby Club every Friday from 10.30–11.45am and the walking football for the over 50s at Kelso High School every Tuesday, from 6–7pm. There is a £3 cost for the gentle exercise session and £2 for walking football.
